Introduction
Following the review of our strategy in September the Trustees of the Charity have set the broad priorities for the coming year.
The Trustees asked me to thank all the clients and workers who contributed to the day they found your input and suggestions really important in enabling them to develop a clear idea of the direction we should take in the coming year and into the future.
Headlines
- Continue to deliver and develop our services at Wharf, Open House Plus and Tenancy support
- Ensure our partnerships are strong both in support and advice
- Deliver on our new services for Young People and Offenders in partnership with Target Housing
- Ensure our clients have great access to training, employment and activities
- Developing Union Street as a hub for the new outreach service.

Key Objective for 2010/11
- We need to deliver on the commitments we made in relation to our Supporting People Contracts in respect of Open House Plus, The Tenancy Support Service, Wharf House and our new Young Persons Service. By building on our commitment to deliver high quality services to our clients.
- Develop and maintain the ‘Places Of Change’ ethos at Open House Plus and Wharf House. Delivering high quality accommodation and support services to our clients.
- Work to continually develop Client Involvement – ensuring that we have clear and effective communication between the client and our services, ensuring client involvement & influence are central to what we do.
- Develop the relationship with CAB and CVS to ensure we are in a position to successfully deliver the legal services commission advice contracts in Doncaster. Ensuring access to specialist level legal advice in Housing, Debt, Welfare benefits and Community Care for the benefit of our clients.
- To deliver on our commitments to the Big Lottery in relation to the growth of Doncaster Advice Service Partnership, ensuring that access and advice quality in Doncaster improves.
- To set up a Nightstop service under the Depaul model in Doncaster. Recruiting and training volunteer host families. To provide suitable overnight accommodation for vulnerable young people.
- To developing the training, education, work like activities and meaningful occupation work with clients. To see this work as key to effectively engaging with clients and having a positive long term impact on clients moving forward.
- To develop training posts across all our services - as a way of developing good quality support workers in Doncaster.
- Ensure we continue to meet all requirements in relation to Supporting People including:
- Accreditation (the assessment of our viability & competence, leading to formal recognition of our ability to provide services).
- The performance framework (The performance indicators used to assess our performance).
- That the strategic relevance of our services is clearly identified.
- The Quality Assessment Framework, we will achieve level A excellence across the whole of the new QAF.
- Monitor outcomes participating and building on the work in the National Outcome Monitoring Tool.
- To work with the Supporting People team in relation to Local Performance Indicators
- Seek to develop and strengthen the organisation by developing our partnerships including:
- Building relationships with support providers outside Doncaster, especially Target Housing our partner in delivering a housing related support contract in Doncaster
- Developing advice relationships inside Doncaster.
- Developing partnerships to access increased ‘move on’ accommodation for our clients
- Refurbish Open House Union Street – to act as an engagement and outreach service for rough sleepers and those of No fixed abode – ensuring we good information regarding those who are homeless and rough sleeping in Doncaster.
- Continue to support M25 Create’s development – M25’s social enterprise delivering training and work-like experience to our clients.
